Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is a landmark in Syracuse, New York; a local legend that you should definitely not miss if you are in the area. If you can’t make it to Central New York, there are now also Dinosaur Bar-B-Que locations in Rochester, Harlem, and Troy, New York.
A throwback to a 1950’s biker bar, you won’t have trouble spotting the restaurant with its brick façade, red awning, and multitude of motorcycles always parked outside. Parking is limited in the area, so prepare to loop around the block a few times. In addition to parking being limited, the joint is always busy. Lunch is a great time to go to avoid the major crowd, but dinner on a Friday or Saturday night will leave you with up to a two hour wait. Late evenings throughout the week, and especially on the weekend, get customers energized with entertaining and loud live music.
The inside of the restaurant is filled with eclectic Americana. There isn’t an inch of wall space not filled with old photographs, license plates, posters, and memorabilia. Meshing well with the rib and biker joint atmosphere, many of the waitresses and patrons exude a tough and rough persona. However, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is a favorite of families and bikers alike.
The winner of many prestigious food awards, including being voted Number One BBQ on Good Morning America, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Some recommended favorites include the Big Ass Pork Plate, Bar-B-Que Pork Ribs, and Chili on the Half Shell. Make sure you take notice of the delicious homemade specialty sauces given on the dishes, in bottles on the tables, and even for sale to go. Even the sides are mouth-watering good. Try the cornbread, mac and cheese, chili, and/or the mashed potatoes with gravy.
The menu is filled with traditional southern barbeque delights, but Dinosaur Bar-B-Que puts their own savory spin on them all. A must-stop for great award-winning barbeque partnered up with a fun and unique atmosphere.
